No Dreaded lines! But also no IPS Displays!

Having a decent look at the 13.3" screen at the apple store, the screen has the same cheap look and feel of the revision B & C models, minus the lines. Im a bit disappointed that the display dose not match up to the ipad in my opinion.
The viewing angle just aint their The yellow tint whilst looking from the sides just dose not do it for me although Im accustomed to it on the MBA. I wish it had a cracking display, especially for the price and would be another great reason to upgrade!

The MacBook Pro models do not have IPS displays either. Nothing new here.

Actually, none of the current Apple notebooks have IPS displays. Not even the new high-res ones. In matte or in glossy form.

Its a shame! We get spoilt with cracking screens on some products, and crappy ones on others! But its been like that, inconsistent since 2006!
I've had an unibody 15" and that display was beautiful, equal to my 24" ACD. Just don't like these cheaper TN Screens.

I remember when the Aluminium Imac 20" had the worst TN Screen of all! I know because my mum has one! Tilt the screen to wash out the dock! It was terrible! They then upgraded to an IPS screen on the 21.5" iMacs!!!! Now they are gorgeous!

When the macbook mated with the ipad, shame it didn't get its screen gene! hehe

They have to reduce costs somewhere in order to lower the prices for the consumer. I for one am willing to pay the premium for higher quality. I hope Apple doesn't turn into Dell and HP.

Basically no notebooks come with IPS screens, save for some of the bulky high-end workstation notebooks (one of the HP workstations comes to mind). I read somewhere that the IPS screens consume a lot more power than their TN counterparts, so that may be another factor, too.

You won't see an IPS on an ultraportable for quite some time. They take up a good bit more power than TN, and are bulkier. This would require a bigger screen housing and more batteries, defeating the purpose of the ultralight notebook.

It's all bs. I bought a 23" IPS display from Dell that looks amazing, and has better color accuracy than just about any consumer monitor. $230. Don't tell me that an 11" display, which is about a quarter of the screen area, is so expensive
that you can't put it on $1000+ laptop.

Granted, it is not really possible to put something like that in a laptop because IPS displays generally need a stronger backlight and use more1 power(it is actually also a large part of why they are so much more expensive than TN).

It is really important to me for the MBA to have a nice screen though, because otherwise it makes it tough to justify over getting a cheap PC ULV.

I saw the MBP 15" unibody and it has an excellent display. I think it was the low res one, but still, the colors and contrast on it were just great. Can someone compare the MBA to it?
