Hey,
I was hoping someone could help me

I have a mid 2012 macbook pro with a 500gb SSD
I am having a problem,
I tried to reinstall macos from internet recovery.
It asks where i would like to install macos to but i cant see my hard drive listed at all.
Someone mentioned to make sure the drive was formatted correctly which i did,
I tried HFS and APFS in Disk Utility but it errors out when i try to format it for some reason.
I had the SSD working before with macos and the SSD is brand new.

It wont recognize my hard drive for the install.
What do i do?
Thanks.

The SATA cable in the 2012 13” MacBook Pro commonly fails. Here is a link to a video on how to replace it.

An easy way to confirm it’s the cable and not your SSD is to put it in an external enclosure and connect via USB.

I agree with the post above.
The ribbon cable that connects the drive to the motherboard can go flaky on the 2012-design MBP.

If the video above doesn't have the part number, you can get it from ifixit.com.
Either order from them, or from elsewhere online.
