No drivers for Windows on OSX disc 1

Finished up running boot camp, but when trying to install the drivers windows fails to find any .exe file or any files for that matter on the Mac OS X install disc 1 or 2.

How can I install the drivers to finish installation?

Should I just burn a drivers CD and run it in windows instead of using the OSX disc?

please help me all knowing ones

Hi,

I'm no expert by any imagination with macs but I have just used boot camp myself and installed windows vista - I followed the instructions in the guide that's printable from boot camp to the letter and all worked fine for me.

I put the osx install disc 1 when the instructions said to and all the drivers went on fine as far as I know.

Just wondering did you not do it at the right time maybe?

No Boot Camp Drivers

There were no Boot Camp drivers on any of the disks that came with my MBP Unibody either. I had to download them from the web to get it to instal properly. It all worked but because of the new chipset the drivers werent easy to find.

ok, I was reading that there may not be drivers on the disks.

Do you have a link for those drivers, do i find them in a bulk set, because I have no idea which drivers I need. Hopefully I can find them in a mass download.

But you actually were running Windows when you were trying to install those drivers? The installation DVDs are hybrid media, meaning that Windows won't see the Mac part of the DVD and OS X won't see the Windows parts. And naturally, the Windows drivers are only visible in Windows.

Unless Apple have changed this recently, the Windows drivers on the Boot Camp website are update files only and will only properly work when you already have Boot Camp installed.

Does this mean that I have to install the drivers when windows is in safe mood, or boot windows from this OSX dvd?

To my knowledge, Windows has been successfully installed up to the point that I install the drivers.
The instructions said, that if you right click on the disk image it will let you view the options, and select the .exe file
Even when doing so, Windows shows there is no information on the disks.
I am doing this in windows xp, it is fully functional, but lacks the drivers to give me airport connectivity etc.

If windows won't read the disks until properly installed, what do I have to do to make them viewable?

Looks like your Auto Setup is not running right.

Best go into Computer and open up the Disc and navigate that way.

I have done this,
even when right clicking on the disk image in the My Computer pane,
the disk shows no information on it.

It is the problem the previous user was alluding to, Windows isn't recognizing the mac files. I believed that I should have had .exe files on the disk which Windows should have recognized, but alas they are not visible on the installation disc.

I doubt you are going to be looking for an .exe (or at least I don't think so). Look for an autostart.ini file that has "bootcamp" in the name.

Try restarting the computer, zapping the PRAM, and what not to make sure it's not a firmware issue.

Maybe I'm now a bit confused here, but it doesn't seem that you are actually running Windows. In your Mac, open the System Preferences, click on "Startup Disk", select the Windows/Boot Camp partition (it will be called something like "Windows on <a name here>") and click on the Restart button. This will shutdown OS X and boot Windows.

And once you are really running Windows, insert the OS X installation DVD. If it contains the Boot Camp drivers, the installation/setup procedure should be launched automatically once the DVD is inserted. (Provided, of course, that you insert the DVD -after- Windows was started.)

In case this isn't clear, but Boot Camp is an either/or feature: You will either use Mac OS X -or- Windows. You will NOT be able to run Windows applications alongside Mac OS X with Boot Camp. If you want to do that, you will need a third party software like VMWare Fusion (strongly recommended) or Parallels Desktop for Mac (only my second choice).

I also do not recommend using Boot Camp's auto-installation option for Windows. You are not in control of the installation process when you use this, and in my experience it does not necessarily work well. Do the manual install - just be careful and do NOT let Windows change any hard disk partitions. Hmm.

It is at this point, that when I insert the OS X installation DVD, it does not autorun. Nothing happens.

I open up My Computer in the windows task bar, and click on the DVD to expose its contents, searching for any file types, and it shows there are none.

Is this possibly a Windows XP SP2 issue?

I was reading on another forum, that the boot camp has issues with versions of Windows XP SP2?

I am running OS leopard, but when I purchased my computer I had OS Tiger. I don't have the Leopard disks since I got the copy from my old employer, so I just have to figure out a way to get those drivers and burn them onto cd.

Or just go to the store and actually purchase a copy of OSX- the drivers will be there waiting for you!
