No email sync???

Plz forgive if this question was answered in another thread. I did a search, but couldn't find an answer...

The review of the iPhone by Engadget writes that the iPhone does not sync mail with Apple's Mail app. In other words, messages sent, read, deleted will not show up as such in the Mail app or when viewing dotMac mail thru a browser. Is this true?
