Is the issue virus related? Or due to the nature of the damaged components?

TL;DR Bf ripped monitor off my MBP, used a temp aux monitor for 4 months until MBP crapped out; already went through trouble shooting; he says its a virus, my theory is overheating damage from monitor being ripped off/ AUX monitor [seeing as it rapidly drains battery power]. Perhaps SATA cable and/or HDD overheated? Grateful for feedback/suggestions and most importantly, Would you say that my issues are virus related?

EXTENDED VERSION:
Got a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" that's been just fine the past few years, outside of some issues w/ Apple Updates being patched; the usual bugs and stuff. About 4 months ago, my bf had a fit and ripped off the monitor. The hinges where the monitor used to be are bent af and there is some exposed wiring [attachments for the monitor].

Since then, I've been using my MBP with an auxiliary monitor. Just this week, it totally crapped out on me.
  1. Heating up more than usual
  2. Bluetooth connection not working
  3. Very slow internet connection
  4. Zero connection to Wi-Fi
My bf diagnosed the laptop with a 'virus' he's literally been telling me for the past week that I compromised and infected the computer...He's been saying that he is going to fix it this coming week but its been taking too long. Yes I've already unplugged and reset router, modems and laptop beforehand.

What he did:
  • Updated MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6
What I did:
  1. Safe Mode
  2. SMC Reset
  3. PRAM Reset
  4. Checked if a 3rd Party software affecting boot [Terminal]
  5. Disk Utility, all volumes appear to be fine and working..
  6. Tried to re-install OSX; Failed to connect to server even though Wi-Fi was connected.
  7. At this point, I checked the apple forums [MacRumors, Reddit, Apple, and StackEx]
  8. Reset time settings through Terminal
None of these things worked...which brings us to the present 'NO ENTRY' icon upon start up. The last resort is to use a bootable USB with the OS. Now, I am by no means a 'tech guru' just trying to resolve the issue and see if this is indeed a virus [willing to accept fault] or if it is an issue brought forth by the brutal beheading of my MBP's monitor.

As someone who has done work in the field, you need a new bf (immediately if not sooner) and a new computer, in that order.

The virus suggestion is ludicrous.
