I've been on the fence about getting the 27" iMac but have been strongly considering the i7 refurb since it has quite a bit of the same performance as the 2010 model but at a lower price. My local store also told me that all of their new stock went back to Apple this week and will likely wind up going out into the refurb pile so there is every possibility of getting a brand new in the box i7 iMac at the refurb pricing (kind of like a lottery)?

I get EPP pricing through my employer, but bizarrely the i7 iMac refurb is just one of a handful of products that does not appear to get an EPP discount, it's the same price as if I bought it from the regular Apple online store.

Has anyone been able to call Apple and place an order for one of these refurbs and get their EPP discount applied? This would likely push me over the fence on this, as it would bring the price down to under $1600 and I can probably still get $1100 or so for my spring 2009 24" iMac with 2.93 C2D and 4850 card.

Any thoughts welcome.

I don't think I've ever seen EPP (at least my particular EPP) apply to any of the refurb items. I wish it were not this way. :(

Hm, that's really a drag, maybe I will call them up anyway and see what they can do for me.

EPP pricing varies across refurbs, I've seen that as well. What you see on the website is what you get, I don't think calling them would make a difference.
