No Facebook Chat on Facebook website?

Hey, got my iPad today and was cruising facebook - no chat function? I don't get that bar along the bottom of my screen that is on my laptop or that i've previously seen on my iPhone.

Anyone to confirm?

I've noticed that I can't post a status update with Atomic Browser.

You can use the facebook app or the facebook chat app orrr im+ for the time being. There is an ipad app on it's way.

the chat bar was on the facebook website when iPad was first released. However the bar was shown in the middle of the screen. Basically the coding on the website broke when being viewed on iPad. I imagine facebook just disabled the bar all together when being viewed from mobile safari on iPad.

If you use a browser other than Safari, like Atomic Browser or iCab (iCab is my favorite), then you can change the settings to make the browser identify itself as a desktop browser by selecting "Safari (Desktop)", instead of iPad or any other mobile version.

Chat will work directly on the site after that.

Alternatively, you can use http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php in Safari.

Ah cheers that pop out link works well. I guess as was mentioned they just disabled the bar because it was a bit borked. Hopefully it makes a return. I'm not convinced we need a dedicated facebook app; the site displays really well and I have a shortcut on my home screen.

I can't post anything on anyones wall and also you can't scroll through lists of friends. Hope the iPad version comes soon because the iphone one doesn't look very good on this lovely iPad
