“There will also be a new ‘Favourite Songs’ playlist that gathers each listener’s fave tracks, and the ability to favourite songs, albums, playlists and artists to swell their library.”

This is what was promised in the latest update. Except I can’t find a Favourite Songs playlist anywhere.

Has this appeared for anyone or is it another Apple Music screw up?

Works fine for me. Have you gone in to Library, Songs, tap the little icon top right and choose Favourited?

Edit: sorry, misread original post. I don’t have a favourite playlist either.

Really annoying that all favorited tracks are added to your library, too...
A playlist would've been nice indeed!

I don't think the previous favorites came over, it will only show new songs that you favorite since the update. There was the old heart before but I don't know what it did, must have only tuned the algorithm because they don't exist anywhere that I could see.

It appears to be either another screw up or miscommunication. Right now you can FILTER by favorited in any your playlists and in your library, but it does not automatically create a favorites playlist as has been suggested.

Also, you are supposed to be able to long press on the music icon in iOS and choose a favorites playlist. That does not appear for me either.

So maybe it's a screw up, or miscommunication, or something that will appear later.

Edit: Delayed to 17.2 https://www.macrumors.com/2023/10/26/ios-17-2-beta-1-features/

From the Release Notes:

Apple Music

Known Issues

  • The Favorite Songs playlist might take a while to appear on some iOS/iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS devices. (117219873)
Workaround: Add a single song to your Apple Music library and the Favorite Songs playlist should appear within a few minutes.

Oops, sorry, I thought this was for 17.2, not 17.1. Favorite playlist is not in 17.1 as mentioned. They are in the new beta of 17.2.

Looks like it’s a known issue and being addressed in 17.2

Add any new song to the library, then give it a minute and the Favorites Playlist will show up. (I didn't have it either) Apple said to do what I did.

The favourites playlists show up on my CarPlay, it says favorites, then lists favorites by playlist, artist, album, song, all with their own icons.

So I am expecting it to be actually present on my phone, but it does not. You can only filter favorites, but I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to give you a separate section for it, since they have it on CarPlay.

So yes it seems this is now available in iOS 7.2.

Certainly a messy way to roll out this feature. People will now be seeing the favourite star in Apple Music and getting used to how it works, yet the playlist that contains the music you favourited won’t roll out for another month or so. Bizarre really.

I wonder if the automatic playlist generation is only for Apple Music subscribers — which I am not a member.

Apple said:
If you subscribe to Apple Music, you can add songs, albums, artists, and playlists that you love the most to favorites. Quickly find your favorites in the Apple Music app. And get notifications for your favorite artists.

What happens when you add music to favorites

When you add a song, album, artist, or playlist to favorites:
  • The song and album are added to your library.
  • The playlist is added to your library. If you have Add Playlist Songs turned on in Settings > Music, the songs in the playlist are also added to your library.
  • You can get a notification when your favorite artist releases new music.
  • You can filter your library to see only your favorites.
  • You improve your music recommendations in Listen Now.

I can Favorite songs but no playlist has yet appeared:
