I have been looking, but haven't found a hands-on review yet. I'm definitely not seeing anything that is going to tempt me away from my 5,1, but I have to admit that if I had 3,1 or earlier, it looks like it would be slick.
I'm on a 3,1. Very tempted but I just splurged on a Weber grill slick deal, and pending iPads refresh so my MP is gonna have to wait a few weeks longer. Would really like to see it in action though. Just hate how for that much money we only get 256ssd.
Yea i hate that as well but i am only using 60gb on my main drive .. so i guess i could deal with 256 and hope down the road there are 3rd party replacements
I expect once they are available, someone will do a stripdown and a parts price list so we can see what we are being charged for what.

No need since that is just your opinion. Many others feel that it is reasonably priced.
Hahaha and many more disagree that is reasonably priced. It's overpriced for what it is, and even more so when you take into account the peripherals you'll need to buy for it. I especially cannot wait for Thudnerbolt to die, which it's already doing, so they will be no accessories for this nonsense.
Anyone who does not see the need for the performance of the Mac Pro and others who cannot afford the new Mac Pro will see as overpriced.
I'm on a 1,1 and the new Pro isn't enough to make me update. Partly because of the continuing usefulness of the 1,1 (despite being a "dead" computer due to lack of support and updates), but also because of the new Pro's price.
I've got $5K I can use to upgrade, but I don't figure $3K is worth it for another 1,1 which will be quickly tossed aside by Apple. If the new Pro is reviewed favorably, I'll buy the 2nd Gen or even 3rd Gen when this old 1,1 is completely useless. It would be nice to have a Pro which spans a decade instead of a 5-year novelty.
A computer that lasts a decade...? Sure it'll 'last'. It'll do what it did the first day you got it, just fine. But stay competitive and usable as a workstation in a professional environment? Good luck.
Oh I very much see the need for the Mac Pro. That's why I'm upset; they've ruined an almost perfect design to be "innovative." Anyone who has a brain should be concerned with the cost, even if they are wealthy. Why would anyone in their right mind want to spend $400-$500 on TB external storage solutions when they could spend a quarter that on an internal drive or fill their computer with HDDs for the same price?
People are jumping on the bandwagon of this thing simply because it's new and exciting. New is not always better, and in this case it's definitely not.

My 1,1 is just at the end of that definition. 7 years and still good. Might still be good enough for another 2, but it's long in tooth. Though it is old, it is still peppier than everything except newer Pro towers (due to processor upgrades and dual processors).
I'd expect the next Pro to match 7 years and go beyond.
How useful would your 1,1 be if it had 2 @ 7300Gts or 2 @ X1900s bolted in. And the only upgrades were whatever Apple left in parts channel or could be sourced in scrapped machines? I think a good part of planning on this new machine is to stop all this thrifty upgrading.
You upgrading your 1,1 didn't put any more money in Apple's pockets.
Replacing it because the parts weren't possible yo upgrade, that's where the money is.
Have a look at iMacs with replaceable GPUs, very few if any can work across generations, specs changed.
