Hi all,

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot access HD television shows on my ATV. I can download them via iTunes, but not through the ATV.

This is annoying because I want to enjoy HD shows on my big screen. And I don't want to have to sync every time.

The HD shows are encoded in such a way that you can stream them from your Mac to your TV via Apple TV.

I know. But why do I need to go through an extra step? First, Apple only allows you to rent HD movies via ATV, and now you can only buy HD shows through iTunes? It just seems incoherent.

Same here. I bought the Apple TV yesterday thinking I could purchase HD shows from my couch. To my own dismay, I could not.

You have to purchase it on the computer, and then it will transfer it to the HD of ATV. I am guessing they did this because their catalog for HD TV shows are so small. I bet they will add an update to allow this functionality.

And is it possible to buy HD Movies? I only see buy at 14.99, how much is the HD version?

I've read countless threads on Apple TV syncing and streaming problems, and for many of us there is no way to sync or stream consistently. Purchasing through Apple TV is the only way to go.

I've had no problems - I have it set up where I stream everything, and when I purchase on AppleTV, after downloading it, it gets transferred to my iTunes server.

A user posted in Leo Laporte's TWiT forums that the Apple TV update was pulled because of UI issues.

Apparently, it's now due out by early October. It adds Genius and updates the UI so that you can purchase HD shows.

He's been right before, but you know how that goes.
