No Indicator Lights in Mountain Lion

I fiddled and messed around for quite some time and could not find a-n-y indicator lights in the dock to let me know if apps were open and running.
I moved the dock to the left hand side and they're there they just slip beneath the bevel of my NEC LCD 2690 Wuxi.
At first I thought it was a glitch where there weren't any and turning them on and off in preferences made no difference,
I finally changed my screen resolution from 1920X1200 which is how the screen is SUPPOSED to run) to 1920X1080.
There they are, but I really don't want to have to change my resolution down to see some indicator lights.
Any ideas?

Haha rookie mistake my good man. Just simply go to System Preferences -> Dock and then check the box "Show Indicator Lights for open apps"

That doesn't fix the problem. It is a bug and will hopefully be fixed in the next update.

How is this a bug vs. an issue with your monitor? I don't have the same problem on a 19" Vizio display or on a 25" Dell display. If it were a bug in ML shouldn't it affect my displays as well?

Not a bug on my Mountain Lion Dock...

That doesn't fix the problem. It is a bug and will hopefully be fixed in the next update.

There is no bug, you are just not noticing them. In ML the lights are very subtle when compared to Lion.

I am getting this also.

Except I am getting no indicator light whatsoever. For example, Photoshop CS6 is currently not showing as open when it is, no indicator light, and if i right click the dock icon, it displays "Options, Show Recents, Open" in the menu, so its not even aware the program is running. Yet I can click it and Photoshop becomes in focus.

Frustrating.

Currently using OS X 10.8.1.

I guess my issue is SOME indicator lights such as in my screenshot Photoshop CS6 (the blue icon with "Ps"), do not show up.

ya sorry I didn't know what the photoshop icon looked like your post made me thing you did not have any indicator lights, that is odd photoshop does not show

They are, but there is a way out. You can change the indicator lights, although i don't think you can do anything about the color which sucks. Just download a dock with an indicator light of choice, and enable it in Candybar or some dock application.

The 2D dock notification lights are still like Lions. You could try that if you don't mind the 2d dock.

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

Or, just move it to the side of your monitor in preferences.

I get this too, not on all apps but some, and it comes and goes. The other day I didn't get any indicator light on Firefox, but today it's working fine. I really think there is a bug in OSX, although hardly a show stopper.

hmm... this is pure speculation but maybe this has something to do with automatic termination? I shut it off ever since Lion. I will decide when my apps are terminated, thank you.

You can try this in Terminal:

defaults write -g NSDisableAutomaticTermination -bool true
