I'm not sure if all the stores got them right away. Best bet is to keep calling or stop in the store as often as possible.... It's sucks but it's your best bet :(

You mean that did not have any regular Macbooks on display?

Odd, they won't get rid of them. Any other Apple Stores near you to check?

Apple store in Glasgow Scotland had plenty of MacBooks in this afternoon while I was in. Having only just bought a Macbook I was quite releaved.

No i dont think Apple are planning to ditch the MacBook just I dont think the MacBook Air stands up very well in direct comparison to the MacBook only on weight not on performance, cost, connectivity and expandability. other than its weight its nothing special

when I picked up my MBA last week there was a lady buying a macbook at the same time and we were being rung up at the same time. She kept looking at my box. "I really want one of those, but I'm afraid I'd bend it." My salesman told her to go over to the display model and have at it. She came back 3 minutes later and said, "I'd really rather have one of those..." :)

I pulled this thing out at the airport terminal last night and almost immediately had 5-6 people ask me "if that's the new mac". No fewer than 3 wanted to hold it.

I am a serious technophile, so I always have people asking about my various gadget, but I have to say that I enjoy telling people about this computer and showing it off more than the others. But I am also a computer science & engineering student, so I look at the nerdy side of it :)

I wonder if the store was just getting new display units? I know sometimes the ones I see are pretty beat up from everyone picking them up and what not. One time while I was in a store a kid dropped a macbook pro, oopsy...

Same thing at Apple store in Cambridge, MA.

4 MBA on display, 3 MBP, 0 Macbooks.

I had been there just before the MBA was available, and the macbooks were in good condition. Strange marketing to not leave at least on macbook on the floor.

Seriously, of the airports I have been in (many, across the US), I would never let anyone hold anything of value in them. You didn't let anyone hold it did you? You still have it right? ;)

They won't get rid of the MacBook price point because the budget market is big.

..do you understand economics? hello??

Where can I get a "Budget" new Macbook?

With all due respect Doctor; the Macbook's price point AND the Macbook's market are SO FAR from a budget market it isn't funny!

MacBook's are higher end and expensive; PERIOD!

Take the Macbook current specs and price point listed on apple.com and I would say that MARKET WISE, they are a high end purchases (keep in mind it's 2008). I can buy similar specs for $625.00 walking out the door.....IF, I was this low end-dirt bag shopper your posting about. I Guess I am a budget shopper in your eyes huh??? (I just bought a 24' iMac, and 1.8 SSD 80G Air and a refurbished late '07 Macbook since December 21,2007).....oh....the Macbook...USED was $ DOUBLE this budget market price you look down on rich boy!

I'm not sure if you made this comment because you spent your lunch money ($3,100+) on an SSD model Macbook Air (<----this doesn't make you a "high End" shopper or buyer because you spent 50% of your '07 earnings from your job at KB Toy and hobby).

Doctor listen, certain Dell models could be considered being built or priced to sell within the budget market......now take a laptop like a Inspiron 1525...now that is a budget market laptop!! Maybe those shoppers or buyers are seeking a budget laptop at $699-799.99... <----NOW This is the "Budget" market.

I don't think you could buy a 3 year old Macbook for $699 ...could you?

ok.....sorry all.

Again Doctor ....no offense, but get outside once and a while Doc.
