I've got the apple watch 4 paired with my iphone X. When I get an email, my iphone doesn't wake up to show the notification. (its there on the screen - but doesnt wake up the screen) I guess its because of my watch. But my apple watch doesn't wakeup either to show the notification. There isn't a haptic feedback either on my watch. if i wake up the screen there is notification dot.

But should I not get an haptic feedback or notification on my watch to show there is an email?

If you just updated to 12 then the notification for the default mail client were set to not vibrate and no sound. If you’ve checked this already ignore me.

I tried that as well - set to vibrate still nothing on my watch until i wake up the screen manually

I think its a bug that was introduced in WatchOS 5 from what I have read. It seems to be intermittent. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. 3rd party email clients, like Outlook, seem to work fine
