When MobileMe was .mac there was an option to add an email only account to your existing account for something like $10.

My wife and I just got iPhones. With the new MobileMe, I'd like to give my wife a MobileMe email address so she can have push email. She doesn't need the whole MobileMe experience, just email. Is this no longer an option? I've looked all over the place and it seems to be that MobileMe is either all or nothing. Single or family. And even the family pack stinks because for an extra $50 she'd only get 5G of storage, vs 20G for $99.

So what's the deal? Are those my only options? Upgrade to family pack, or get her her own separate account?

I was reading about the options last night and I read that EMAIL ONLY was discontinued.

That's bull. So in other words, Apple is forcing me to drop another $99 bucks so my wife can have push mail. Lame.

Not exactly. You could get the family plan which means you drop another $50 (up to 5 accounts). Or you could use the FREE Yahoo Push Email if all you want it Push Email. I have been using the Yahoo Push Email for the last year and it had been great. I am 99% sure I will go with the MobileMe Family Plan for my wife and I (I think you can find it cheaper on Amazon and other places) for my wife and I because we want OTA Sync of Email, Contacts and Calendar. Not sure we need the iDisk Feature but maybe.

Yes you can.

I just went in and added for $10 a year a new email-only account for my wife. It's still a solution! :)
