Apple macOS update is not better from previous OS, after this update device is over heated and got hanging issues in large applications.

No major update done by apple in mac OS Sonoma 14.5

I believe the only new features for macOS 14.5 were for News+ subscribers.
Regarding your problems, I haven't experienced this on my M1 Mac Studio Max.
In fact after purposefully waiting for .5 to launch before going anywhere near 14.x, it's been pretty painless.

After any/all updates, macOS will index everything again. A lot of CPU use happens during this time, which can make things get hot. I don't want to say it's "normal", but maybe shut down and leave it off for roughly 30-45 seconds and start back up and then after you get to your desktop, step away and leave it be again for 10-15 minutes and let it be. Any indexing that may have gotten stuck should continue and finish.
