No mention of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7?

I guess i'm the guniea pig. I purchased one and it arrived yesterday evening. Everything worked as normal, loved the fingerprint scanner and the large screen the Emotion UI was speedy enough and i like the organization of apps just like the iOS. The build is fantastic and and I love the feel of it.
The 13 megapixel camera is based on a Sony lens but it's mediocre.
Today I wnr to an interview and was out an about in the cold most of the day. I first noticed the fingerprint started acting funny so i just chucked it up to the cold. But when i arrived home and tried to open up an app and the screen locked. I had to turn it off by pressing the power button for a while. I tried to turn it back on and nothing. Sometimes i feel a vibratation when i press the power button but nothing shows up..It's going back to Amazon.


The biggest selling point is it's 6 inch screen, fingerprint sensor and build quality. Other than that I should have taken heed to Ananatech's warning.

Not much of a fan of emotion UI and the issues you discovered aren't really all that uncommon in Chinese OEMs. Although any OEM can suffer from the occasional dud.

I don't trust AnandTech as much as I used seeing their founder moved to Apple. I think David Pierce from Wired seems to want to join Shimpi with all his love letters (ahem, I meant reviews) to Apple. I wouldn't say either one of them are bad guys, per se. David seems like a nice guy always responding to his Twitter followers and it was great career move by Anand Shimpi to get hired by the richest company in the world.

If you ever have trouble in studying reviews, go on YouTube and search for reviews.

Ash from C4ETech is decent for the Asian market. His review of the Mi 3 last year really convinced me to get it, and after 8 months, zero regrets. Best one ever for me and much better than the more beautiful M7. Still fast, smooth, maintained its good battery, and more stable after removing MIUI.

Android Authority is great.

PocketNow is great.

Phone Arena is ok but covers phones ranging from Meizu to Apple compared to PocketNow and most American reviewers.

For battery life testing, check Phone Arena (browsing rating) and GSM Arena.

But I can understand how difficult it is to find companies more popular in the Far East reviewed by American-based reviewers. The best reviewers to me is still Josh Vergara and Michael Fisher. It was cool to see both meet up at CES and taking grufies together.

Mate7's main issues seems to be not-so good camera, buggy Emotion UI, and weaker GPU.
