Can’t get Ethernet working after upgrade to Sonoma. Wireless works fine. Network connection shows a green dot and says it’s connected but browser times out, App Store times out. I have to deactivate the Ethernet to get back online. Anyone else experience this problem?

Someone else posted today that the upgrade causes their WiFi to cut out after five minutes on an M1 Air.

What Mac model are you using?

What router model do you have? Does the Mac get a proper local IP? Did you restart you entire network (modem and router)?

My Mac model is a desktop M1, 24” 2021. The router is a Frontier model NVG468MQ. The Ethernet and wireless get their own TC/IP addresses with the same subnet address.

The solution on the WiFi thread was to remove old, lingering network filtering software. Do you see anything like that in your Login Items…or under System Settings>Network>Filters?

I have this same issue occurring on a M2 Mac mini Pro. Ethernet stops working. Wifi works fine. Ethernet doesn't connect.

Had the same problems, temporarily disabling all filters fixed it for me (I had Little Snitch in there). Once I did that, I was able to download the latest version of Little Snitch which allowed me to enable it again and it's been working for a few hours now, so I assume it's fixed.

I had an old version of Cisco AnyConnect installed and it was causing DNS lookups to fail on wired but not wireless. Disable the filter and it worked. Upgraded to 5.0.05040 and it worked fine.

Disabling the filters was a temporary fix. The next time I login the problem reappears. I use Avast for my internet and virus security. I contacted their support team, provided them with all the information I could and a few days later they provided an updated version of their software that fixed the problem.
