Has Apple stopped using the oleophobic coating on then new 2020 IPad Pro? I’m certain mine doesn’t have it, the finger prints and smudges are near impossible to wipe off. I actually also have a older 10.5 iPad Pro that’s years old and that one is so much easier to clean.

2018 iPP is the same.

I think I saw it speculated that some aspect of the 2nd generation Pencil wouldn't have worked as well with the more substantial coating.

I don't know about the iPad itself, but I got a screen protector with oleophobic coating and the smudges come off easy. My fingers never actually touched the iPad screen as I applied the protector as soon as I removed the iPad from the box.

Nice which one did you get?

I got the Spigen Glasrtr Slim off Amazon. It's a bit tricky to apply but I found the quality to be great -- though I don't have an Apple Pencil to see how well that works.
How bad are the reflections on that Spigen screen protector?

My 10.5 Pro was really bad in accumulating fingerprints and grease, whereas as my 5th generation is vastly better. But then I blame that on the anti-reflective coating that regular iPads don't have (and that I prefer).

As far as the oleophobic coating on all iPads, I'd be surprised if Apple stopped using it. But it seems much can depend on how the screen has been cleaned. Some cleaning solutions or even alcohol can diminish it, I've read. Just a damp cloth is best.

That’s interesting, I mean the difference is quiet noticeable.

When the first Pro and Pencil came out, it was mentioned somewhere that the screen lacked the oleophobic coating because any additional thickness to the screen increases the parallax effect and so makes using the Pencil less like a real pencil on paper.

I can’t remember where that was said, but I’m pretty sure it was Phil Schiller that explained it.

The first gen Pro was really bad for finger prints. It’s possible screen thinness has improved so that they now include the coating again?

iPad pros screens are dust and smudge magnets. Pretty annoying
I also found they are easier to scratch compared to older versions (same as new iphones screen)

I took an Applecare so i can beat the sh out of it without screen protectors

I put a tempered glass screen protector on my 2018 iPad Pro so I won’t know if it’s “harder” to clean or not because I never touched the screen. The glass screen protector does well with cleaning off fingerprints in my experience.

This completely ruins this product for me. I had 2018 IPP 12.9 and it was fine, no issues. I also have a 2018 IPP and I’m ready to sell it as I cant use it AT ALL without it becoming a mess instantly. It’s very disappointing - did I just get a bad product or are they all like this? I don’t want to use a screen protector, I pay for Apple Care so I don’t want an ugly protector.

I have the iPad Pro 2018 and also have to clean it at least every other day. Never thought about it much. But now I'm also conviced that it's much harder to clean the surface of the iPad Pro than e.g. my much older iPad Air or the iPhone.

iCarez matte screen protector - can't imagine life without them on my iPhones and iPads. Fingerprints thing of the past and has been for years.
