No more slow-mo animations?

One of my favourite easter eggs in the macOS is the ability to put animations in slow-mo by holding the shift key. However, I just tried it again and its no longer working. Did Apple axe the feature?

Didn't this disappear years ago? For example, I can't slow-minimise by holding Shift in 10.13.

according to reddit, this went away in High Sierra when they re-wrote the window server in Metal.

Interesting; I thought it was earlier than that. Shows how often I do it...
