iMac #4 is a winner. I've been staring at this screen for a couple of hours and I do not see any of the yellow gradient that I saw on my old screen. There is almost no light bleed at the bottom and (most significantly) there is no splotchy, inconsistent backlighting like on the old one.

I'm happy now. I'll post a quicky pic (I'm sure someone will try to find a flaw here, but I can assure you -- it's spot on)

This is week 2 mac. Maybe they are finally getting their sh** together?!

Look good. Thanks for posting. You are more brave than someone else who said their iMac has no yellow but refuse to post it here. :D

I hope my coming iMac will be the same as your. :)

awesomeness. 4 exchanges eh....Maybe you could put that up for auction :(

I am going to be waiting till more reports of week 3 and 4 come in before going at it again. Thank you very much for the photo and congrats dude.

Where'd you get that desktop background? I think I like it! :p

It's an anime wallpaper - might be a little weird for some people. I like it anyway.

Well, in all fairness, the first was a flickering iMac and might have been fixed by the later firmware update. The second and third were yellow, however. I've become quite adept at unpacking iMacs and I am, unfortunately, hypersensitive to picking out yellow screens now.

I'm hoping this is a sign that the worst is now over.

Thank you robotkiller.

I certainly believe there are a handful of good screens as you should know having seen four yourself! Thanks for sharing.

My i7 I received Thursday and returned today was terrible.

I'm going to try an i5 as it happened to be in stock at Amazon. If it's bad, I'm going to wait a while before trying again.

I can't imagine how awesome one of these machines must be, when the display is right!

The only tinge now is a tinge of regret that there won't be another brand new box to open, because my i7 is now entirely free of yellowing or any other obvious problems. IF I'm fortunate enough to have it stay this way, my next new Apple box to be opened might be the upcoming iSlate or whatever they'll be calling it. It's nice to move on from the yellow tint issue.

Damn! Just when I was about to settle for my yellow tinged display because none of the many people on here claiming to have perfect displays on here had the balls to post pictures, RobotKiller posted this. I think I'll be exchanging for another one in a couple weeks. :p

That looks like a keeper to me. Congrats on finally getting one of the good ones!

Having the patience to go through 4 exchanges probably entitles you to one!

I never saw a yellow tinge in either of mine, but both flickered uncontrollably. This time I'm getting one fresh off the line(instead of a store exchange) and I hope I have your luck.

Congrats, it looks good! My 3rd replacement was sent from Shanghai on the 6th. So hopefully it might be from the same good batch as yours!

my mate gone through to number 4 too
but he's happy now everything works like it should on number 4
i must say it's a nice computer if it works this 27" iMac

but having that much patients should be honored by apple
with a discount on the next apple product purchased ..4 exchanges hmm 20 %, 3 exchanges ...15 % on the next apple product seems to be fair to such loyal customers

I noted this in another thread - Apple rewarded my patience with a nice little gift. I'd rather not be specific, in case it gets my rep in trouble, but the gift was just under $100.

I'm sorry but even it that picture your lower right looks slightly warmer.
Can you re-shoot with the test at full screen?

Imac 21.5" screen problems?

Does anyone know if the 21.5" imacs are having the same yellow tint problem as the 27"? If the 21.5" are not then I'm on my way to an Apple Store this week to purchase one.

They have them also but appears not as many folks notice them, had two machines. Best bet is to have them plug it in before you buy so you can check it out. Pay attention to the bottom and right hand corner. Easy way is to just turn on a machnine and set the background to solid white.

I originally ordered the C2D 27 incher, but it was two months before they even got a new shipment in (from the company we order from in Greece), so right before they were going to ship it to me, I decided to order the i5 27 incher. They are currently out of stock, but they said they will be getting more on the 15th, and mine will be shipped from that batch. I hope that since I have been so patient, I will be rewarded by having my 1st one not have the yellow issue!

With all due respect, I don't want to go down the road of trying to prove or disprove this. It's really very hard to capture a full screen using this test without running into normal color shift issues.

This is the best I could do this morning- I'm not going to try anymore attempts. It was shot using a Canon 5D MkII using a 24-70 f/2.8 lens with WB adjusted for lighting. Note that there are compression artifacts and that I did not meticulously set up this shot. This is far from scientific.

You'll have to take my word that this screen is true. I've made myself cross eyed looking for flaws and I'm really not seeing the kind of unacceptable color shift I saw in my old screens.

Like you can tell in such a picture. If this has in fact been addressed and fixed by the mothersh:apple:p I might still jump on a 27" i7 after all.
