No New iMac For A Few Months Due To The Bad Economy???

Hey everyone!!! well I was reading an article online and now it looks like no new iMac for awhile. The reason for this is the bad economy and no one is buying anything because they do not have the money. I hope this is not true but it does make sense. We will all see what happens let me know what you think, leave it here.

Apple is one of the most recession resistant companies out there.

The iMac delay has nothing to do with the economy.
 
That article is such a load of crap, the way you get out of a recession to innovate your way out. Also if apple refused to follow analysts advice on macbook pricing why would they follow their advice on when to release new products. Sometimes it seems to me that analysts just spout out anything hoping to be right. I guess that means Snow Leopard is moved to 2010 and no new iPhone this year. What a load of crap!
 
It's not the 1930's Apple. People can still afford these machines. Please release them as soon as possible now. A lot of people really want a new iMac and/or Mac Mini.
 
I just stopped waiting and bought from the refurb store last week. Best thing I ever did (that is, until new kick-butt iMacs come out - then I'll be jealous).
 
That's bullsh*it dude. If Apple wants to wait for better economy they have to wait years, it's not going to be fixed in few months. And why they released new 17" MBP starting at 2799$ (not sure) for this economy? That's even more ridiculous if thinking that economy text you posted. Economy doesn't get fixed if everyone just holds their money buys nothing.

What Apple makes, people buy it!

... because of the announcement of a new release, not because of the economic environment. iMac sales should have dipped. they are now a little long in the tooth, new notebooks were released, and talk began about a refresh to the entire desktop line .... of course they dipped

I agree, I imagine that the reason sales went to **** in December is because MW was just around the corner and knowledgeble buyers were waiting until then. If iMacs are released soon then I imagine that we will see a Q2 pickup in Apple desktop sales. I think it may be a significant upgrade too since we have the rumors of a quad core processor, so even if there is no form factor upgrade apple will still tout it has a leap forward because of the quads. And with the 20 inch ACD EOL'ed I see a release soon as even more likely. They came out with the new 24 ACD for the laptops, I can see them coming out with the new 20 ACD for iMacs and Minis, and saving the final 30 ACD for Mac pro upgrades. It only seems logical to do it that way. Anyone agree?
 
people were talking about a recession in October when I went and bought my iMac. The store was BUSY. i passed one a while back.....BUSY.
 
Hmm... but on the other side, do we really need new machines? I'm quite satisfied with my current Mac mini. :eek:

You may not need a new machine, but many others want or need a new machine with new specs. With Apple hardware, there are no price drops as tech gets older, so people are still paying the same price as when it was first released for older hardware, many people cannot stomach doing that especially with the apple premium. So buyers at the end of the cycle get hit with a double whammy, older hardware that costs the same as newer hardware. So that is why there is such speculation on when the hardware will be updated.

Your comment is right on, and couldn't have been worded more perfectly! I am in that group of people who cannot decide whether to wait for the new iMacs, since we have no idea how long the wait will be. But the way you put it - you're paying the same price for old technology - convinced me to wait. Now let's just hope it doesn't drive me crazy... :p
