No optical audio on new macbook air's

I thought optical audio was standard on macs now....

i guess the mini display port will have to carry audio into HDMI, Seems like something that could have been included but was left out.


anyone with an 11" please confirm you do or don't have optical audio.

Read the specifications page on apple.com.
No it doesn't have optical audio.
But instead, the miniDisplayPort can carry digital audio, which isn't the case with some other older Macs with MiniDisplayPort.
Also in the System Profiler you'll find in 'Audio' that HDMI can be used for audio.
