No option to save audio clips from Messages to Voice Memo app

Hi All,

I've come across an issue, I have a friend who constantly records a message in the Voice Memo app, then sends me the audio clip via Messages.

Up until the last month, I was simply able to press and hold on the audio clip and had the option to save it to Voice Memos, however that menu option has now dissappeared. Extremely frustrating.

Anyone else experiencing this? I think it's specific to audio clips sent from Voice Memos rather than recorded and sent in the Messages app.

Hardware: Iphone 16 Pro Max

Just curious, can you see them in the links and attachments section and try to save them from there?

Alternatively, can you press and hold to choose Copy then paste into a Note? Not ideal but better than nothing.

Hey mate, no cant see any voice clips or audio files in the links and attachments section.

Also, I can copy and paste into a note or i can save the file to icloud drive.

It's just weird as it was working fine up until a month ago.

I sent myself a voice memo and was able to save it back into the Voice Memos app. In Messages, tap the audio recording > share icon (box with arrow) > Voice Memos > Save. I don't know what the process was before, so maybe they changed it?

Also, what is the extension of the audio recording? Being able to save depends on if the Voice Memos app understands the extension/filetype. I noticed that if I send a recording from the Voice Memos app, the audio recording has a ".m4a" extension, and I'm able to save it. If I send an audio message from the built-in feature in Messages, then the audio recording has a ".caf" extension, and I'm unable to save it to Voice Memos. (Voice Memos does not show up in the list of apps in the Share Sheet.)

Hey - that has worked - they've definitely changed the process. It used to be so much easier.
