I originally asked this question on the apple discussion forums. Original Thread

Ok, i here is the deal. I have been using Mail.app since i have gotten my mac a year ago. My ISP is Optimum Online (cable) and they restrict port 25 unless its for their own mail.optonline.net. I also own my own domain (willsisti.net) and need to be able to send and recieve emails from my own domain. Tech support says to use mail.willsisti.net for incoming and mail.optonline.net for outgoing. This has been working well. But i have started to notice that i can not longer send email via my willsisti.net accounts.

So to trouble shoot this is what I have done. I have confirmed all my settings with my ISP. There no blocks or filters on my service (besides the one restricting webservers and mail servers). i have deleted the accounts and recreated them in mail. Still no outgoing email. Also i have tried reinstalling Mail.app using my install DVD's (using that program that extracts individual packages from install DVD's. I forget the name of it though.)

I installed Mozilla Thunderbird, guess what, it works fine. I would rather used Mail.

Here is what makes it even weirder! If i used my cell phone to conenct to the net via VZW Broadband messages go through using mail.willsisti.net as the mail server.

Also messages that i try to send never go into the "outbox" nor can i go to the outbox. They are just in limbo. I have a smart folder name "Today" which has all my email messages of the day (in/out) the messages will show up there.

Any ideas how ot fix this?

Thanks All.
