A friend gave me his 2008 iMac for a clean install of the latest OS X that his iMac could have (El Capitan). I got into my app store from my MacBook pro mid 2010 and i downloaded El Capitan.app into my app folder. After that i erase a usb 16gb to extended journaled, gave the name MyVolume, open the terminal and paste this command (sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app). Then i enter user password and after that asks something --->click (Y). I took the bootable usb and put it on iMac, click continuously (alt), and perform a clean install. In the way everything stopped and gave this <<OS X could not be installed on your computer. No packages were eligible for install.Contact the software manufacturer for assistance .Quit the installer to restart your computer an try again >> I ask everywhere and they said to open terminal type date and put the correct date/time. iMac had the correct date. WRONG !!!
Everyone who has same issue must:
1. Find a mac with a version that could run El Capitan (no need been installed) you can find it here https://eshop.macsales.com/guides/Mac_OS_X_Compatibility
2. Get OS X El Capitan from here Download OS X El Capitan
3. Double click after download and next next next. At the end you will have it into your app folder (don't afraid it ill not installed).
4. Find a usb 8gb or bigger , erase it to journaled extended, name it MyVolume
5. Open terminal and type sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app
6. Enter user password and when asks click Y (yes). After 100% copying files the bootable usb with El Capitan is ready.
7. Now you can start the clean install of OS X El Capitan into your mac.
8. Open mac - press continuously alt - choose bootable usb - loading... - erase your drive you want to install the OS X into extended journaled - choose your drive you want to install OS X - loading ... voilà You are ready !
If you use a Mac that came with a newer OS than El Capitan you will not be able to do this. Depending on when and where the installer was downloaded, the instructions changed recently. Follow the steps i gave you.
Hope this help anyone with same issue. If you don't understand what i'm saying write below. Many thanks to Eau Rouge and Weaselboy.
