No Pandora - why?

I was one of the people hoping for an App store on the new Apple TV, for one reason only - Pandora.

There's a reason that when iOS 4.0 was released, they demoed Pandora at the keynote. This is one of the most popular apps on the iPhone, for good reason - personalized music streaming 'stations'. It's addictive!

If it's great on the iPhone, imagine access to Pandora in your living room. Plenty of other boxes support it.

Even though Apple didn't release an Apple TV app store, I'm disappointed that they didn't at least include Pandora support (as they did Netflix). Ask most Apple TV app store advocates why they want an App store, and one of the top reasons will be Pandora.

My only theory is that Apple thinks it cannibalizes iTunes sales, but in my experience it does the opposite - I buy music I discover on Pandora.

C'mon Apple - we need Pandora on the Apple TV! There are other streaming music apps I'd love to see too, such as XM radio....

Well if they do indeed open an ATV app store im sure that will be one of the first apps on there. From what I've read an ATV app store is very likely but we'll have to wait and see.

I hear you, but I sure hope it's not limited to streaming from an iOS device. Why on earth should I need to have an iPad or iPhone nearby just to fire up Pandora on my Apple TV?

I'm with you. I agree. Apple can't open that TV app store fast enough, if you ask me. I don't think it's a matter of cannibalization. Likely a matter of getting the licensing together in time for announcement/launch. Hopefully soon.

I'm not too worried, my Blu-ray player has Pandora (and Netflix).

i would much rather launch and stream music from pandora off of my ipad or iphone instead of having to turn on the tv to go through the menus every time i just wanted to listen to music. when using music only the tv stays off for me.

remote only works as a remote. it does not show you the apps that are on the apple tv so you need your tv on to go through the apple tv menu to find and launch pandora. with it streaming from your iphone no need to turn on tv.

This would seem to be another good comparison between Roxio and ATV. Roxio has a Pandora app--and it has Amazon on Demand. ATV hasiTunes and--well iTunes.

The common ground is Netflix. I haven't decided yet....

I use Pandora pretty much exclusively now so it is a must for me--preferably without having to run it through another IOS device.

i can see apple wanting the apps to run off of your other ios devices like ipod touch, iphone or ipad. they want you to need more then one device to get the full effect of what it can do. i have roku player and never use the pandora app on it. only thing i use it for is netflix and MLB and other video content. anything music related i use my iphone or i phone. and now with airplay i shouldn't need to dock it to listen. so it becomes much better. display and control at my finger tips for audio with out turning on my 50 inch plasma.

what i would like to know is what happens when you are streaming audio from your iphone say with itunes or pandora and your phone rings,, will it interrupt the stream to airplay?
