After upgrading to Monterey 12.6 from Catalina, a small but annoying setback: Plugging Magic Mouse to charge shows no progress percentage. Only “charging”. Even when it was fully charged, the status shows “charging” (had to unplug and for the Mouse to be connected again to see the updated 100% charged status.. But nothing when it’s charging…). The status doesn’t show on the Bluetooth dropdown menu on the desktop menu, nor does it show in the Bluetooth panel of System Preferences. Am I just blind, or is Monterey forgetting to implement simple but totally useful features???

TIA

I'm not on Monterey anymore, but I've always gone into Mouse settings to see the charge. Never did think to check the Bluetooth settings, but the charge percentage is showing there too for me in Ventura. (Can't say for sure if it was or wasn't showing for me in Monterey though.) In case it makes a difference, I'm using the Magic Mouse 2.

How is the mouse connected? Via a USB cable plugged in to the computer, mouse either turned on or off? ---> No indication in the Bluetooth menu bar pull down.
Connected to a USB adapter directly on a power connector? With the mouse On ---> you can see the % charged in the Bluetooth menu bar pull down. Mouse off, no indication of the % charged, but you can see that the mouse exists.
Never checked the mouse preferences pane.

I noticed the same thing recently. I cannot tell how far along the mouse or keyboard are while charging. I have gotten into the habit of charging overnight and unplugging in the morning once a week.

^^^There wasn’t an issue over 5 weeks go when I charged my keyboard: Percentage status was still available. It’s the recent 12.6 that’s messing things up. (BTW, it’s approx 2hrs for a full charge for both keyboard and mouse.)

Mouse is turned on and connected directly to the iMac’s USB port with Apple USB cable. The Mouse is greyed out though on the drop down menu as well as the Bluetooth panel in System Preferences. It’s definitely a negligence of the recent 12.6 update.

Just a quick update. The percentage charging still doesn’t show on the Bluetooth dropdown menu nor the Bluetooth settings in System Preferences. The percentage does, as iStorm posted, show under Mouse settings. But to see live updates, System Preferences has to be closed and reopen, then go to the Mouse settings: Wash, rinse and repeat.

One step forward, three steps back.
