I just installed the iOS 9 PB on my iPod touch and there is no Proactive Search. Is there a setting to enable it?

I'm actually on an iPhone 6 Plus and there's no Proactive Assistant available for me on the Public Beta, either. Kind of confused.

It's a bug, the page is appearing blank for lots of people. The proactive search page is actually non existent on A5 devices which is because it's not supported on those devices.

Well, if the Tips app is anything to judge by, this may not necessarily be accurate. I don't know if the contents of the Tips app are necessarily tailored to each particular device and revision, or if it's just a catch-all for whatever tips happen to exist, but this is currently showing up in Tips for me, which is kind of odd if what you said turns out to be accurate (as I myself am currently running the PB on an iPod Touch 5G). Pic inserted below for evidence of my claim.

They probably haven't tailored the Tips app content to each specific device like you said.

It's just that, historically, the capabilities and tips listed in well, uh, Tips, have tended to be very accurate, since iOS 8.0 and beyond, at least to my category of device, including the Public Betas as well, when almost any new feature could be subject to change. So judging by that, I have a little bit of hope at least, that this feature will come to at least the iPod Touch, even if not the iPad 2.

I've yet to see an A5 device with the feature on it through all three betas so far.

We have yet to hear any sort of official statement from Apple on this, though, so I am for at least giving this possibility a little bit of chance, because the feature list still has time to change, and because the iPod Touch, despite being an A5 device, handles a hell of a lot more modern applications and games than you would expect, and runs them pretty smoothly, too, with, in my experience, very little lag or framerate glitches. So, on a performance basis, there may not necessarily be a reason to hold off on this feature. Maybe on a marketing basis, though...

For sure its not out of the question that they figure something out before launch, but I wouldn't say it's a large possibility.

OK, so after having read a thread on there possibly being a new generation of iPod Touches, and having read the referenced article that has led some to believe that this new launch is a thing and will likely happen on the 14th of this month (next Tuesday), I'm wondering if a new iPod Touch, running iOS 9, and with (nearly) all the bells and whistles of this OS is a likelier scenario. Your thoughts on this, everyone?

Not a chance.

iOS 9 will not release until the Fall with the new iPhones.

If the new iPod Touch it's more likely to do better with iOS 9. I wouldn't expect it to have iOS 9 though.

iOS releases usually ship 3 or 4 days before new iPhone hardware.

A6, A7, and A8 were completely unique designs. A5 and A4 were mostly off the shelf designs with minimal optimizations from Apple's internal design team.

This may all sound like marketing speak, but the A5 is the one hardware chipset that from the rumblings I've heard outside of Apple is the one that many would prefer just get dropped.

The thing is, proactive is not the focus of the tip, which is actually finding scores, you actually can do this on A5 devices by swiping down on the homescreen and typing it in as the tip shows.
Swiping left you cannot do though nor do siri suggestions show so some changes may be in order. (To the tips app or the home screen)
