Hi,
I recently bought a macbook and this will be my first time to use an Apple product. When I tried to activate it, I was asked to connect to a wifi network, which I tried to do. However, it wont prompt me to input the password to my wifi network, and when i try to connect to a free wifi, it says that the 'certificate for this server is i valid'.

Im really lost as to what to do. Can someone help me?

Welcome to MR! A few questions: the Macbook runs otherwise fine? What do you mean by “ activate it”? Can you please elaborate what you are doing (or trying to do)?
It might help to know the macOS version your running? Equally: which Macbook model?

Your Macbook does not connect to your home WLAN? <- if you connected in the past, it will not asked your password again when you select to join it. Here is a link which explains how to make your Mac “forget” a known network and its password. If you select the Wi-Fi network afterwards to connect again, it should ask for the password.

The certificate error might indicate that you are running a VPN maybe? (that error usually means somebody/thing is intercepting (or trying to intercept) secure network traffic. Or maybe a content delivery network (CDN) error.)

Hi! Thanks so much for the response. Its a Macbook Air, macOS Monterey.

I actually got this second hand and I had to wipe it, and now I am trying to reactivate it. However, when i try to connect to the wifi to start the process, it wont prompt me to input the password. Also, I haven't connected it to my home WLAN previously but I'm still trying to see if I can do the forget network thing.
