No provider after jailbreaking 3G 3.0 iPhone!

Ok, jailbroke my buddies phone, did the steps, since he has att, i didnt bother turning off 3G since he has att. Well i cant get a signal, everything went well with jailbreaking, phone turns on, did a restore back up, but no signal. Whats going on?

He has a 3G and did the jailbreak on 3.0 firmware, everything went smooth, please help!!
 
Did you uncheck the activation box when you were building your custom firmware....if you don't you won't get reception..

Rebuild the firmware and uncheck the activate box....

Not sure if i got that option, i used redsnow for the jailbreak, and dont remember it giving me that option, is it something i missed?
 
I'm not completely up on the different versions....

Did you use Pwnage to jailbreak...if you use the expert mode, it will take you through the steps that will allow you to uncheck activation...

Just to make sure...he is trying to use it on AT+T right?

If not, and you are unlocking...I misunderstood and haven't unlocked anything so don't know the answer...

No unlocking just jailbreaking, i used redsnow, never used Pwnage, should i have used Pwnage? The tutorial on iclarified didnt mention anything, should i redo everything?
 
I don't really know why you don't have service on redsnow...I haven't ever used that tool...

Can you restore to your backup and get back to a normal phone...

Then run either Pwnage(Mac) or QuickPwn(Windows?)

I find Pwnage super easy...it takes you through all the steps.

Did you upgrade to 3.0 first and then try to jailbreak? That is what I would do if I were you....

Sorry, I'm not very clear, but I've only used Pwnage and I just follow along as it directs me, so I'm not super educated about everything..

Pwnage in expert mode should work really easily...

with redsnow, i updated to 3.0 then jailbroke, this is my first jailbreak on att, i did m wife's phone, jailbreak and unlock with tmobile, turned off 3G, did everything iclairified told me, unlocked worked flawless, dont know why i cant get reception. is there a guide to use pwnage?

i am going to do a restore through itunes, see if that brings it to normal after the backing up!

Yeah checked it out, they had a link to jailbreaking with redsnow and someone did it w/o problems. iPhone 3G with 3.0, was i suppose to take out the sim card?
 
With Pwnage you don't....not sure about redsnow...you could always try again with redsnow if you don't feel comfortable trying something else..

But I really think if you restore to stock and the Pwnage it...you will have success..
 
well just redid the restore, and its back to normal. was i suppose to take out the sim card when i did the jailbreaking?

i did my wife's 3g and it worked flawless, hell she is using it with tmobile.
 
Redsn0w is the tool to use when jailbreaking 3.0, the pwnage tools haven't been updated yet (just to clear up any confusion) :)
