Hi there,
I have a Jailbroken and unlocked 3GS. It is a UK phone, bought from O2 but being used (unofficially) on Orange.
I have just purchased an app that has a nice Push feature, which made me want to check out the whole issue of Push on phones like mine.
I installed the free version of NotifyMe to test the Push capabilities of my phone, but the app told me that Push wasn't available for my phone...
I'm a bit flummoxed. I am able to access YouTube (which I understand to be blocked if your cert is one that Apple doesn't like) and locating my phone via Find my iPhone popped up a Push notification on my phone almost instantly.
I'm confused as to why these work but other Push notification messages don't. I'm testing all of this out via my wi-fi network at home (where I have no mobile signal). However, Find my iPhone has worked in the past when I've been on a 3G network with no wi-fi connection.
When I bought my phone I put the official SIM in it and plugged into iTunes and did what was needed. I'm fairly sure I 'activated' it with it's official SIM prior to JBing and unlocking.
I really don't want to go down the Cydia 'fix' routes as they appear to be a tad unreliable.
Any ideas? If I do need to insert the official SIM, 'activate' it then JB & unlock again am I able to restore the phone (via pwnage tool) and not loose all my app data (I had to do that once before and it was a REAL pain)?
Thanks in advance
