I don't think anything is working like it's supposed to right now. I would just give it some time before you try and troubleshoot.

Gah...it'd be nice if Apple would just ****ing say something! Why won't they say "desktop sync" doesn't work currently...what a ****ing mess...I was a .mac member that was upgraded and so far it looks like an epic fail. The new iPhone is nice and it syncs with the web...but I never use the ****ing web...I use the desktop and the iPhone...sync NOW!...or at least tell me that you can't and that you're working on it...mother ****ers!

So weird...WTF Apple...I was online today with a mobile me specialist from Apple for like two hours...trying to figure out if there was some switch I needed to turn on in Mail.app or iCal...we realized, no...I should just setup .mac (mobileMe) and tell it to sync in system preferences...and yet still nothing.........galksdjflasdjflaksjflkasjdflkajldfjasldfjalk;sjdfl;kasjdlfk FU

Apple pretty much bungled the transition from .Mac to MobileMe. I knew they would... somehow, I just figured they screw it up and nothing would work right.

I believe Apple's insistence on transitioning everything on the same day (iPhone 3G, iTunes, MobileMe web stuff, MobileMe servers aka The Cloud, firmware 2.0 for the iPhone, etc.) was simply too complicated for them (or perhaps anyone) to pull off without screwing things on a global scale.

Somewhere out there, you just know, Steve Balmer is laughing his monkeyboy laugh right now.

THE SERVICE IS NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL YET!!!!!!!!

Why do people have such a hard time understanding this? Things are not going to work properly until MobileMe if fully up and running! Delete or move one of the e-mails in your inbox, and all of the others will probably move too. If not, then just give it some time.

The problem is, on Thursday everyone was saying: be patient; it was supposed to be up this morning, but don't worry, it'll all be worked out by Friday.

And then it was Friday, and more things started going wrong with other pieces of the puzzle. Meanwhile, it's Saturday morning now, and MobileMe still isn't completely working as it should, even though we were told it should have been about 44 hours ago or so.

I think everyone understands it's not fully functional; they're just upset about it and want to figure out what if anything they can do. I am upset too, but fortunately I've been too busy to dwell on it.

Apple took on too much at one time and wasn't as prepared as they thought they were, I guess. I haven't really needed the MobileMe/syncing yet, so I'm just anxious/excited for everything to be up and running and "just work", like it usually does (and like I'm sure it eventually will!).

with better planning it wouldnt have as many problems. For instance get the people with .mac to change last week then the people with new iphones (11th) then hit the server with different issues at a different time putting less strain on the new system.

much like if they allowed the old iphone customers to update to 2.0 on 10th so on 11th they have half as many people hitting their servers.

Im sure after a week it will all be ironed out hopefully.

I am seeing decent 'push' behavior:

- Change on MobileMe --> Updates IPhone, ICal, Address Book
- Change on IPhone --> Updates MobileMe, ICal, Address Book
- Change on ICal, Address Book --> Must hit manual sync (even though it's set for "Automatic" for it to update IPhone, MobileMe.

When ICal, Address Book are updated on Macbook (from changes made on IPhone or MobileMe, I get a warning about more than 5% of data will change. This is an old setting from the previous ITunes. Still think more updates are needed to pull this all together.

I'm starting to see decent pushing of my data; most changes are now propagated to all my synced devices within a few minutes. I think that it's going to take another day or so to work the kinks out, but having an up-to-date calendar and contact list wherever I go will make MobileMe worth it to me.

yes it is fully functional, and it was yesterday.

I had to remove the mobileme mailbox from the iphone, add it back, and then remove the mobileme mailbox from the mail app, add it back, and it all worked.

ITs not. The update never arrived for Push to desktop. If I look at my settings .mac is still the only icon and it still shows the old 10 GB.

No mobile me icons for me yet.

Push works on my phone and me.com , but not on my Mac.

I think the problem here is a lack of communication from Apple. I don't mind waiting a few days, but for them not to come out and tell us what's up is ... well - stupid. Tell us that Push isn't working on desktop - or that it has to be rolled out slowly and works for some but not for others...tell us what is going on so I can structure my needs around it. This no communication or very minimal "taking longer than anticipated" doesn't cut it.

I don't think anyone was expecting this service to work without a hitch right off the bat - but I would like to know what works, what doesn't, why etc.

Still not working.

Still no communication - just smiling happy graphics ".Mac is now me"

Lame.

I see the same behavior. For now, I just remember to "Sync Now" when I make a change on the computer. Minor annoyance, but something Apple should have had working from day one. I mean if "Sync Now" gives the desired result, then it's a bug in OS X sync (sync "Automatically" option not working right) that should have been caught some time ago.

Let me add something, I use 10.4.11, and it works fine. No update was, or is needed.

Then why are they selling it? I would expect if I went out and spent $100 on a service that it would actually work when I got home and installed it.

When you receive an email on your mac should the mail app have a red one indicating a new email has been received? Does mobile me push emails through to the mail app. Right now the only way I can get the new email to appear is to click on mail and click on inbox and then the new email is downloaded from the me.com servers.

This is precisely the same behavior I'm seeing too. Surprisingly it seems as though the desktop apps are the weak point at the mo, hopefully 'push' will come to them soon enough.

I am relieved to see this thread. I wouldn't mind if Apple said that everything isn't up and running properly yet - but the website says it is. But I can confirm that Push doesn't work from a desktop.

"Push" mail works to my desktop, but doesn't show up until I do something like change mailbox views. I get the "bing" that says something came in but it doesn't display. If I then change to a different mailbox and back again it shows up. Weird.

WHY ARE YOU SUCH A DEFENSIVE APOLOGIST FOR APPLE?

Look. This is a commercial service. People have paid money for the service. Apple is a software company. They should have anticipated these problems during TESTING. The time to iron out kinks is NOT on go live day. Duh. The service currently does not work as advertised. Period.

If they weren't prepared for a global roll out, then they should have done a staggered one.
