Hello, I made a Configure-to-order MacBook Pro and its being delivered by monday...same day as WWDC. I put a 100gb harddrive in it and on their website it says .

"Configure-to-order, personalized or other customized product may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless DOA. If the item is returned unopened in the original box, we will exchange it or offer you a refund based on your original method of payment."

You guys think they will let me return an unopen MacBook Pro w/upgraded harddrive if a better Pro comes along?.....based on the benchmarks I could care less about the merom....I would be really mad if they choose to put a better graphics card in it though. Thanks who comment.

didn't you answer your own question?

This is the more pertinent quote:
Configure-to-order, personalized or other customized product may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless DOA.
Or, from a recent order of mine:
Please note that Apple does not permit the return of or offer refunds for the
following products:

1. Product that is custom configured to your specifications

That paragraph made me scratch my head, I thought they said no returns on configure-to-orders, then they said if it is unopened then you can. So I guess I will be stuck with a 32bit Pro then. Sucks, I wanted a laptop that would last me 2+years while being the newest technology and it kinda bothers me now that my "Pro" is the same as a Macbook and the new "Pros" will be 64bit....WWDC or not.

Guess I got too over exicted w/the credit card, I just recently got linked to the apple website and fell in love with the new MacBooks. I never thought in my life I would own a Mac, I never knew they even made laptops lol. I guess I liked it too much and went ahead with a white 2.0 but 1 day later I canceled it for a Pro, too bad I had to add the 100gb in.

I think you're too worried about it. Yes, there will be updates (which might or might not ship immediately). But your MBP will easily last you the two years you want. I have a 1999 G3 "Lombard" PB in the basement running Panther that still works for most things. I'm pretty sure your MBP will last just fine. I expect mine to.

Yeah I guess I am, I'm just....eh.....when Mac decides to release a 64bit version of their OS and I will be slower then the new Pros, or not able to run it at all.

it was inevitable that your pro now would be slower than the future pros.. that will always be the case.

Hey guys, I got my Pro today and its FREEEKING AMAZING. I am seriously having a hard time going back to my downstairs pc. I'm soooo glad I canceled the Macbook because the 15" screen is bloody amazing.

The problem I have is that I added a 100gb harddrive and my Pro says 100gb outside on the sticker but the harddrive inside says 76gb free.

I know its not going to be 100gb inside, I expected it to be like 85 gb, but 76gb free makes me think that the tech forgot to install the 100gb and gave me a 80gb. I'm going to call Mac and ask for a discount because I really don't want to send it back. Thanks for who comment.

An 80GB hard drive that's been formatted will have 74.6GB available, so if you have 76, it sounds like you have a 100GB hard drive and some installed software is hogging the space.

You could always try and sell an unopened Macbook Pro. However, it's not that big of a deal. Yes you want to have th greatest technology but that notebook will last you atleast 3 years. Don't worry. When it arrives you won't care about anything else.

Turns out I have a 92gig harddrive and all the stuff on it gave me 76. Man the 15 inch display is crrrrrrrazy gorgeous, I'm so glad I diddn't settle for the 13. This laptop is soooo well balanced too, and because of that it does not feel heavy at all.

Right now the only problem I have is getting wireless to work, I have a linksys wireless B router and I guess that's the problem. I have an RMA linksys that is full G that is being delivered to them and when that gets back I guess it should work.

To everyone who is deciding weather to get a Book or Pro.....my advice is to go to a mac store and see for yourself. To me the 13 inch was tooooo small, to others it's perfection. Don't be like me and sit on the computer w/your credit card ready to go, go out and see it for yourself before you make a decision. I'm glad I bought this, merom or not.
