Hey I recently jailbroke and unlocked my 3g 16gb iphone under the 3.1 firmware. After it was unlocked using ultrasn0w I put the sim card in and it would say searching then it would go to no service? Any ideas.
I have repeated this process twice and had the same results.
Thanks

Did you hacktivate the phone ?

When building the IPSW you should of checked the box that says activate the phone since it looks like you are NOT using an official iPhone sim (saw where you unlocked so figured not on official sim).

If it's an official sim, uncheck the box, the sim will activate the phone.

i did that and no luck ... the deal is the phone was supposedly purchased out of the country under swisscom. Either way after unlocking it, it should work, right?

Yea, JB and then unlock.

And the phone was never updated to official 3.1 ?

Did you check the baseband at Settings/General/About and go to modem at the bottom of the About screen

Should say 4.26.xx and not 5.11.xx

It is 5.11.07 Before it was 4.26.xx and I had the same problem so i restored it through apple and now under 5.11.07 its doing the same thing after jailbreak and unlock. Its either saying no service or searching.

alright so I searched the web and Im pretty sure you can't unlock the newest baseband. Is there a way to downgrade the baseband.

If you had kept your old baseband, we probably could have helped you. But now that you've updated to 5.11.07 there is no way to. There is no unlock for the new baseband, won't be for at least several months, and may never be one. You kinda screwed yourself.

ETA: Whether you can downgrade your baseband depends on what boot loader you have. A very few early 3G iPhones had boot loader version 5.8; if you do, then you can use fuzzyband to downgrade. It's in Cydia. The chances are slim.
