The iPhone SE is listed as being compatible with the new HEIF/HEIC photo format.
I just noticed on mine, that under SETTINGS > CAMERA, I do not have any "Format" setting to allow me to switch between “High Efficiency” and “Most Compatible”. And I do not see any other setting which could explain why this setting could be selectively displayed/hidden.

Are other iPhone SE users seeing the same thing, or do you have the option available ? Any idea why this is happening on mine ?
 
You're right. I got mistaken by the nuance between which devices can "capture this media" and which devices can "work with this media". Thread closed ;-)
