I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running El Capitan, and I want to update to Sierra. However no software update is available when I check by clicking on Apple symbol and About this Mac.

I understand that all models since 2010 are compatible with Sierra. Could someone please advise me what to do.

Open the App Store and search for Sierra. It should come up there. :)
