Someone please help me with this:
I have the 2.66 Ghz, Core 2 Duo Mac Mini with 8 Gb RAM and a 500 GB HDD.
I've hooked it up to my 55" Samsung LCD tv via my Onkyo TX SR 606 7.1 amp.
The HDMI out from the Mac Mini goes into the Onkyo's HDMI in, and the Onkyo HDMI out goes into my tv's HDMI 1 in.
Pretty straightforward and everything worked fine for many months.
However, and I'm wondering what's causing this, whenever I boot my mac mini these days, it can take upto 5 or 7 minutes to just view the Lion login screen on the tv. During those 5 to 7, the tv just says "No Signal - Check connected device's power, cable connection and source selection".
When the power button is pressed on the mac, the tv does not seem to realize a signal is being sent from the mac to the tv - and this whole handshake process takes unusually long to happen.
Since this wasn't the case before, one theory is that a software update could be responsible for this.
Any ideas on what the problem really is and what I can do to fix this?
I'm thinking of upgrading the amp because the newer generation ones (like the Denon AVR 1912) have more to offer, like AirPlay (also hoping this upgrade fixes the damn handshake problem)
Many thanks,
SavJag
