So all the sudden sound doesnt come out of my speakers. The headphone/optical jack is solid red, and in Sytem Properties>Sound>Output the only option there is Digital Out. No internal speaker option at all. Also when I type, i get a slight "sting" or shock from the edge of my MBP where is touches me, not good. Any idea's? I am currently overseas in Bahrain and don't feel like waiting a month or two to send in my MBP with my APP.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

Try pluging headphones in the jack and removing them, also, come back when you get a real shock, not a little baby one.

Well, obviously enough, it would appear you have a frayed or broken wire or other electricity conducting metal contacting the shell of the MPB. This is bad news and would, I assume, require disassembly and soldering at best to fix.

The good news is that it will be very difficult to fall asleep while working/in class/whatever while at the computer.

Come back with advice.

I did give you advice, and the fact of the matter is that any shock received will not harm you in any way and is well within safe limits. My MacBook Pro had a sensation similar to moving you hand over a CRT that was on, it has since disappeared. Are you using the earthed plug or just the 2 pronger? The sensation only happened on mine when I used the earthed plug.

Well I did plug my headphones in and out but nothing happened before. After running the AHT and finding nothing was wrong, I restarted and open the Sound pane. Then I gave the headphone jack a "serious pounding" with the headphone plug and after the climax the SPIDF turned off and the only thing in the Output pane was built in speakers. Weird occurrence, but i guess my MBP needs some pain along with pleasure. As for the tiny shock, it was new and scary for me, but now it too has gone away. I mainly use the three-prong plug while attached to external power. Well case closed, thanks again.
