I've got a 5G ipod that isn't outputing any sound. I did a search and found https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/307956/ but there was no resolution in the thread, so I'm asking again.

  • I put it into diagnostic mode and it recognized the headphones.

  • I tried 2 different headphones, both work on other devices.

  • If I squeeze the middle of the ipod while the hold button is on, I get little bits of the track, but it doesn't stay on.

  • I tried to restore it and that didn't change anything

I'm pretty resigned to the fact that I need to take it apart. Before I do, I wanted to know if anyone had seen this before, and what to look for when it's opened up.

Thanks.
