No sound in QT movie

I recently created a slideshow in iMovie and exported it to QT. I've done this many times with no issues and yet today when I looked at the project that finished exporting overnight, there was no sound in the QT movie. Volume control missing on the control panel for the entire 23 minutes of the movie. Yet when I preview it in iMovie, the sound is there just like I put it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
