No sound in Valve Source games in Steam Mac

Hey Mac Gamers,

As a former steam user back in my PC days, I was excited to play Valve games on my Mac. Yesterday, I decided to buy and download Half Life 2 and the episodes 1 and 2. The game runs ok on low graphics on my x3100 MacBook but I have no sound! Only in the main menu and the Valve logo. Is there something that's not set up right?

I had the same problem, but Valve posted a workaround on the website that worked fine for me. Here's what I got from the website:

Open Steam > Library > Right click on the game you are having issues with
Click on Properties > Set Game Launch Options
Type -snd_openal
Press Enter

After doing this I had sound
