So I finally got round to replacing my old 2009 logic board with the above mid 2010 model (2.8ghz i5) but having issues with the internal speakers not being found in osx
Upon using internet recovery for HS I got the single beep and then the other white screen with the thicker bar than normal (firmware update right?) HS seemed to install ok but when I got into the desktop found so sound from internal speakers only "digital optical out" can be selected
Now I know the speakers are working as I had a windows install to test on the other HDD, any ideas what to do? Speakers were working fine before I swapped logic boards, could I have maybe knocked something when I swapped them over?

EDIT: So I think. the firmware update broke the internal speakers, this is what its showing in system report:

Default Output Device: Yes

Default System Output Device: Yes

Manufacturer: Apple Inc.

Output Channels: 2

Current SampleRate: 44100

Transport: Built-in

Output Source: Digital Out

How is it thinking I have a digital optical out when technically this Mac hasn't got one right?!
