I have a late 2013 imac and my problem is that I'm getting no sound from the built in speakers and no sound when I plug in headphones.
it is stuck on Digital out (Optical digital-out port)
I can't seem to find a way to get it back to normal. resetting the pram and smc didn't help. I read in other forums to use a paperclip or toothpick to poke in the headphone jack because theres a sensor in there and something is causing that to be stuck.
all the poking around inside the jack I did ,didn't help. i can't tell if its a total loss. the startup chime still works as normal.
my computer is well out of warranty and i have no way of taking it to an Apple store.
my only work around for sound is to use my bluetooth headphones.
