Hi all,

On my CD mini, all of a sudden there is no sound. not from the internal speaker, nor from the plugged in speakers. the volume toggle will not stay in my toolbar, nor does it recognize *any* form of speaker under system pref > sound.

i would just like a little music while all my computers go to hell (one mbp, one powerbook, and now this mini having major problems all in the same day!!)

i have reset the computer but nothing else to make this better.

argh.

thanks

Audio MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder. Make sure the Audio Output Format is at 44100.0 Hz. :)

Hi, sorry I have been gone a few days.

I cannot change any settings on Audio MIDI Setup, it says neither input nor output is supported?

Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Has this happened to anyone else? I am really bummed, I just set this up in the living room as media computer and right off the bat, the audio goes :(

thanks,

See what system profiler says under Audio. Also check your console and system logs and see if there's anything related in there.

system profiler says "no built-in audio". that cant be good.

I looked through those logs. I dont really know what to look for, but nothing jumped out.

what next?

Cheers and thanks,

Had the same problem on my Mini recently, audio would die and was listed as "no built in audio". After trying all software solutions, I braved prying the case off. Turns out the ribbon cable to the audio had come loose. The cable is in the back left corner just in front of the audio jacks. It was loosely setting in the slot but wasn't pushed in all the way. I used the clip part of a pen cap to push it solidly in, put the lid back on and works fine now.
