I have a jailbroken iPhone 32GB 3GS 3.12. During the past few days almost every time I receive or make a phone call I get no sound. The calls connect and the timer starts but just no sound. When I reboot the phone it works on usually the first couple of calls but then it goes out again. Im not sure if this happened during an update to a jailbroken app or not. Anyone else having this problem? If so, did you fix it? Here are some of my jailbroken apps I have for comparison:

BiteSMS (just upgraded to full license this week-could be problem?)
AIM SMS sounds (downloaded within last week)
LockInfo
Backgrounder,
MultiIcon Mover
5 column springboard
5 column dock
extended prefs
Cydget
SSH
GV Mobile
WeatherIcon
LiveClock
Space Invaders wifi logo
AT&T logo
Black battery icon
a few themes

I may be missing a few but thats what I can think of off the top of my head.

Ive been having that problem lately too. It only started happening after I installed five column springboard. (or at least it seems)

I know its probably not biteSMS cuz Ive had that for a while with no issues.

A call comes in and basically just stays on the call screen. I cant hear anything. So i end call and then respring. it works fine after that for about 10 calls then I have to respring again.

I have exactly the same problem. Don't have 5 col springboard or BiteSMS installed. Will post back if I find a solution, however I think I'll just restore and re-install to see if that fixes it.

Getting the same issue here too.
Got backgrounder, ssh, mywi and winterboard and sbsettings installed.
Could it be related to mobile substrate updates??

Wow, I should have read a bit further before posting my post above. I started having this exact same problem today. My phone worked fine last night but today I get no sounds through the earpiece. Speaker (external) and headphones work fine. I haven't installed any new JB apps lately except Pogo Plank about a week ago.

Did a reset/restore work? I'm afraid that's my next step. I haven't upgraded to 3.12 yet so I'm a bit nervous about messing with anything and losing my unlock.

*Edit: I blew into the ear speaker and now it's working again. Who knows for how long, but I'm happy right now. Crazy!

I have been having all these same problems too. Kinda glad to know it isn't just me! I tried a reset & that didn't fix anything. Today I did a restore but then did the Blackra1n jailbreak right away. I'm still having problems. I'm thinking about restoring again but not JB. This is so frustrating.

I have this problem too. Started just few days ago. I try respring iphone but works fine for about 5-10 calls. I didnt install any new apps, only update some.

maybe you knew, but I found when you call someone you can test the sound and functionality of the call turn on and off the loudspeaker icon. if it is not off, so the sound will not work and you cancel the call before you pay for it.

jonadair: did restore helped you?

The weather icon may be it! I do have that installed. And I get no 3g reception where I work (i.e. I'm always on EDGE there) and thats when it happens.

Im gonna update and see how it goes....

Did the weather icons update make any difference?
I also noticed that at times when people call me the incoming call screen gets stuck even when the other person hangs up. The slide to answer screen just stays there. When I do slide I just get sent back to the home screen.

This is really annoying!

There's a known problem with the iPhone not recognising when the headphone/mic set has been unplugged.

To rule that out plug your headphones in a make a call. Then end call and try again without the headphones.

Of course this could be jailbreak related. Mine isn't jailbroken anymore so this applies to std. phones too.

I also have the Weather Icon. Seems this app caused the same problems in the past. I uninstalled it before noticing it had been updated yesterday. I reinstalled it last night. So far so good...my call problems are gone. I would recommend to update the Weather Icon or reinstall it.

I see a lot of you guys have the same issue. I'm getting really sick of constant respringing!

I have a jb 3GS 3.1.2 and this problem started about a month and a half ago. I tried every solution I ran into, but nothing changed. I did a restore, reset of all settings, checked if it shows headphones when there's no sound - and nothing. I didn't have weathericon installed, but I installed it even if it was faaar fetched! Hope someone will figure it out. If this with weathericon helps, I'll post it.
