No space for photos and video on MBP - need a wireless HD suggestion

Want something I can work off easily, something fast, big capacity. Works seamlessly with the Mac. Just want to be able to drag from the SD card port onto it via the MBP's desktop. Basic stuff like that, but done well.

Any ideas? So many on market, but so many mixed reviews. Apple's own one I hear will be discontinued soon, sadly. So that's put me off that.

... I'd forsake the gimmicky high-tech wireless solutions like that, and...
... just get a decent USB3 external drive, perhaps an SSD.

Wireless NAS? That's the kind of thing that can just "go wrong" at a very inopportune moment.
