Hi there, I've got a PowerMac G5 (I belive its a dual 2.x?) I'm not sure of its exact specs, it had a drive fail in the machine, (Some background I work for a PC repair shop and one of our clients does some intense graphic design among other things (hence the PowerMac G5) and I am extremely expirenced with PCs but very new to Macs) Since the drive was failed I replaced the drive with a Western Digital SATA Drive, I got the operating system cds from our client the version is Mac OS X Panther Version 10.3.2, when I try and boot the machine from the cds I get an Apple Logo and I can hear something being loaded from the CD and then I get a no symbol (the circle with a slash through it) and that is it, it is a greyscale image, and I have tried resetting the PRAM (as I found that in other posts) but to avail, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The CDs may have an incompatible version of OS X on it. Your client CDs may not support booting the G5 since its a newer model. Have you tried using the system restore disks that came with your powermac? The circle with the slash means the computer cannot find a compatible OS, and 10.3.2 probably does not support the newer PMs.

My house!
The CDs or DVDs that came with the PowerMac G5 will be gray and say PowerMac on it. If not then you're probably trying to install a version of OS X that is older than what the PowerMac shipped with. If thats the case and you cannot find the PowerMac G5 restore DVD, then now would be a perfect time to upgrade to Tiger! :D
