I have a mac pro 1,1 that I got 10.11.6 running on. It runs great except it has numerous graphical problems cause its an old ati x1900 xt. I have a 750 ti lying around that I figured should run it well but I can't get anything to appear on screen. I installed the nvidia web driver 346.03.15f15-2 because I am on build (15G31). I see the nvidia options in system preferences but when I take out the ati and swap it with the 750 ti I get no picture even after waiting for 7+ min cause I no that the boot logo won't work. any recommendations?

Did you connect the external power to the backplane? I have the same card and made that mistake when i first got it and it refused to display. It's a 6 pin to 6 pin on mine.
Also, make sure not to run the x1900 with the 750ti also installed. Nvidia and AMD cards don't play nice with each other generally. I saw you had swapped them, but wanted to mention it.
Try a PRAM reset? Also, what video port are you using on the 750ti?

I’m using an EVGA 750 ti which doesn’t have a power connector. I tried a PRAM reset and I tried both dvi and hdmi (don’t have a display port monitor). I removed the anti card before installing. Thanks for the response though. It would be really cool to figure this out
When you had the x1900 installed, you enabled the web drivers then shut down, swapped and rebooted? If the web drivers aren't loading it may not display. DVI is usually the best choice for testing for video signal...
These cards are Maxwell based GPU's, so the built in Apple driver won't support them. They were the first ones with that chipset architecture. You have an EVGA which are usually the closest to reference cards and generally have the best success rate.

I just tried booting with both cards in for the second time (tried just the Nvidia multiple times) now when I go into the driver panel it doesn’t even recognize that the Nvidia card is inserted
Other option here is to enable remote control software and observe what's happening when it boots. Apple Remote desktop or team viewer....
When you look in system report it's not showing up in the PCI tab at all? As in the screenshot... (I'm on an iMac right now, so nothing is there.)
Have you tested this card in another computer and are sure it works fine?

I diddnt see it at all when I had the 750 in slot one and still in slot 3 but I swapped them and now it shows up in the Nvidia panel under ecc but in system info it says “there was an error gathering pci device information”

I am getting picture from hdmi on my 750 ti with it in slot 3 and the ati in slot one. It seems to be working correctly now. Is there any downside to have them both in there like this?

It would be nice if I could put back the esata/FireWire cards that where there before but I’ll probably never use them so it’s not a huge deal either way
At least it's working now... The link speeds on it will be lower than its full potential, but it's a far better gpu than the x1900.. Must be a glitch with this gen of tower. The guy in the link i sent earlier had to do the same setup to get it to work.
Odd it works through HDMI as well, but it's functioning. I have a Gigabyte version of the same card but it worked fine in my 5.1 tower. Different logic board altogether. I had other issues with mine but the card had a physical problem. On a gtx970 now, which is a lot faster.

Is there anything I can do to remove that loud power sucking card completely. I have access to a r9270 if that would let me replace it completely and use hdmi. I really don’t want to have both cards in if I can get away with it

Not sure if an R9 would run in that tower. Needs SSE4.2 and I don't think that board supports that instruction...

10.11.6 HD 7xxx driver work without SSE4.2, so a R9-270 (renamed HD 7850) will work.
Sierra onwards needs SSE4.2.
