I know that Siri is only available on the iPhone 4S, but I thought that regular voice recognition, in Messages and Mail for example, would be working on the iPhone 4 as well. What's the deal here? I can't find any new voice recognition functions in iOS 5 on the iPhone 4.

Yeah, I'm wondering that too. I don't have an iPhone 4, but I have a 3GS. I thought the dictation feature was a feature of iOS. I realize Siri is only for the 4S, but I was a bit disappointed when I did not see it.

Yes, the voice recognition feature of the Google and Dragon Dictation apps works great on pre-4S iPhones. So I see no reason why it wouldn't work in iOS 5 on the iPhone 4. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that I have just missed a setting or something...

Siri is the new iPhone's "killer feature". This way they're trying to encourage iPhone 4 users to upgrade.

So can anyone confirm if the voice recognition features if iOS 5 for Mail and Messages, are supposed to work on an iPhone 4, or if they are for iPhone 4S only, just like Siri. I'm still hoping that I've missed a setting or something.

Nope. It was never an IOS5 feature.
