Hey guys I finally got my iPhone unlocked (coz im in Canada) Ive had it since they came out..lol..nto one problem is that when I get voicemails I dont get any kind of notifications tellin me I have a voicemail coz I just checked my damn voicemail and I got some but Im not getting any text or anything sayin i have a voicemail....and I checked my settings/ then sounds and my "New Voicemail" thingy is ON.....any ideas?....

i'm going to take a stab and guess it's because you have an unlocked phone. the only voicemail notification i'm aware of is visual voicemail, which unlocked phones don't support. if you want to be notified of voicemail, go with at&t or call your voicemail after each missed call.

does it even show recent phone calls missed? that would be worthless if there is no way to see or hear if you have voicemail unless you call your box.

This is all dependent on your provider !

With O2 in the UK running my unlocked iPhone all i did is call my mailbox and change my notification options.

I had the option on Ringback, Text Notification, or Voicemail Phone Icon.

Chose th VM Icon and now the red button appears at the bottom when i have voicemail.

T-Mobile works (or course, they'll be the provider in Germany).

Home: Number of calls missed and a "+" after the number if you have voicemail.

Phone screen: A "red dot" in the corner of the "voicmail button" if you have voicemail.

I think I get a text related message on the locked screen but I don't remember...

No visual voicemail in the US. Assume German users will though if they use their T-Mobile iPhones here.

If you are having T-Mobile problems with the voicemail indicator, T-Mobile says to simply shut your phone OFF and then turn on again so the system can reset the indicators.

you can get an icon to display for VM's on hacked phones, but you have to set it up with your provider.
on vodaphones site, they claim you can go into vm settings by calling 121 and press option 4 for vm icon. however on the option when i tried it, it dosnt actually give you that option.
i emailed vodaphone and i got an offshore reply  saying somthing along the lines of its not available
other providers may be able to do it also, goto their site and see what the option is to enable it
unlocked phones have the same functionality as non unlocked phones except visual VM on at&t
